Due to a recent update of our SSL (Secure Socket Layer) Certificate on our mail server, some of our customers have received popup security warnings in their email programs… usually because the current email server settings on your device have not been kept up to date.   Especially on mobile devices! If this error or warning appears on your device, select to proceed / connect / continue (differs depending on device)  to allow the connection to be established. Do not click Cancel. 

Incoming AND outgoing server / hostname should be set to mail.montanasky.net and SSL set to yes.

Visit http://selfhelp.montanasky.net for proper server settings and ports.  CLick on General Email Setting or the link for your email program.

 

If you don't want to change the mail server settings, please follow these steps to permantly dismiss the message:

 

Trusting Mail Certificate:


Please reboot all devices that you use this specific address with and try reopening your email.  If the error message still appears, please follow the simple steps for your specific mail client:

Outlook:

1. Open Outlook and click the File tab

2. Click Options

3. Click Trust Center
4. Click Trust Center Settings
5. Click Email Security
6. Under Encrypted email, Click Settings

7. Under Certificates and Algorithms, click Choose
8. Click the certificate you want and then click view Certificate.

There should be a certificate that will appear with our mail.montanasky.net domain for you to select and click on “Trust

MacMail:

 

  1. When MacMail is opened, a window should pop up to Verify Certificate.  There will be an option to ‘Show Certificate’.
  2. Review the Certificate, then if you have confidence in the server (IE mail.montanasky.net) or signature; select the checkbox to always trust the certificate or to acknowledge the signature is valid
  3. Click Connect or Ok.  If prompted, enter your account password.

Thunderbird:
 

  1. In Mozilla Thunderbird, go to Tools → Options → Advanced → tab Certificates.
  2. Click on View Certificates and go to tab Servers.
  3. Click on Add Exception.
  4. Enter the name of your mail server and click on Get Certificate.
    Do not forget to use the port number of the mail server.
    Example: mail.provider.com:993
  5. Save the exception.
